J-Bux----------Carry Us Away

J-Bux-Carry Us Away-Independent-(2014)
Artist: J-Bux
Album: Carry Us Away
Label: Independent
Producers: artist, Superstylez, Num3ers
It’s no surprise that New Jersey’s J-Bux lays the groundwork with storytelling rhymes that paints a picture in the listener’s mind. His previous Coke Stories projects emphasize the lyrical content of his ability to keep it in the streets. His previous collaborations with majority of QB rappers build the credibility of his music. Now the scrape the plate general, J-Bux puts out a 18 track banger “Carry Us Away”.
As you know, this project starts and ends with the same formula of street imagery and blazing production that keeps people on their toes. He continues to pick the beats that match his delivery. The intro displays a piano infused beat that brings straight into the title track with a bouncy futuristic sound where his rhyme delivery fits. Joints like “Money Boy”, “Maybach’s in the Lot” and “Marquis Diamonds” captures the essence of the vivid street storytelling imagery. The guest appearance complements with J-Bux’s flow especially on the murky “Taking My Hi” featuring Blitz to the street awareness “Wolverine” with Blitz and Godfather part 3 where they took street tales to another level. J-Bux makes sure that the flow hits hard with “Something In The Air” and “Gangsta” that keeps the listeners glue through the hard knocking beats.
Carry Us Away has the same flow and street imagery as his previous works. The theme of the album consists of various street banger tracks with strong appearances and J-Bux’s gritty flow that makes this a cohesive album. There are a few album fillers like Patrick Ewing which has a hard beat pattern but the hook throws it off a little bit. 100 Racks is a flipping bricks track that sound generic while Another Hero is an okay track which didn’t mesh well with the dark moody tracks on the album. The originality stems from the subject matter: getting money, stack cheddar, flipping bricks to name a few on the streets. This album brings out more of J-Bux style and knows the essence of street knowledge.
Strong Tracks: “Money Boy”, “Marquis Diamonds”, “Carry Us Away”, “Maybach’s In The Lot”, “Wolverine”, “Takin My High”, “Something in the Air”
               Rating: out of
